An arrest has been made in a fatal hit and run that happened in Syracuse on Tuesday night.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and Crime Stoppers received a tip from a caller say they had seen the Crime Stoppers post looking for the suspect, who was believed to be driving a white or light-colored pickup truck.
Detectives followed that lead to an East Syracuse address.
That’s where they located a white 2007 Chevrolet 2500 HD Silverado with an extended cab. The vehicle had extensive damage to the passenger side front corner.
Detectives spoke with the owner of the truck, who reportedly admitted to driving on 800 North during the time 70-year-old Ronald Strieby was struck.
The driver allegedly told Kosciusko County officials that he thought he hit a deer. The driver admitted that he did not stop to check what he hit nor did he report the incident to law enforcement.
After speaking with Detectives, the owner/driver of the vehicle was taken into custody.
22-year-old Skyler Kuta faces a level 5 felony charge of leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in death.
