Indiana Congressman Jim Banks is taking a rare stance for members of his party: against President Trump.
Banks said in an interview with the Journal Gazette that while he understands Trump’s intentions over the administration’s latest tariffs against China, he argues that the trade war between the two nations “isn’t ultimately healthy,” especially for economies like that of northeast Indiana.
Banks says the tariffs will lead to American consumers having to pay more for goods.
Trump announced another $200-billion in tariffs on Chinese imports earlier this week, saying China is “taking advantage” of the US when it comes to Trade.
