Habitat for Humanity of Kosciusko County is currently working on homes in Warsaw and North Webster.
A lot of progress has been made on the North Webster build in recent weeks, with most of the ceiling sheetrock up and walls installed for three bedrooms, according to Executive Director Mickey Kaufman. Volunteers were recently able to put up the siding on the west side of the house, and plan to finish the siding and drywall soon.
Volunteers are needed Tuesday through Saturday every week once painting begins, and Habitat also still needs about $19,000 to finish the house and make it ready to move into, according to Kaufman.
The home is being built for Jacob and Nichole Roberson and their six children. Jacob is an employee at Dalton Corp. and an active leader in the Boy Scouts, while Nichole is a student and mom who is also involved in Scouting.
The five-bedroom build, which broke ground at the end of September, is the largest Habitat undertaking in the county, according to the organization. It was the proposed Body of Christ build, with the goal of bringing together volunteers from more than a dozen area churches.
The Eagle Street house in Warsaw needs an additional $10,000 to finish rehabilitation. Work remains for the kitchen and bathroom followed by painting, with the plan to have it ready to move into in late spring, according to Kaufman. Volunteers are needed for Saturday and Feb. 7.
