Mother nature dumped anywhere from 5 to 17 inches of snow across the midwest yesterday and today, leaving up to 16 inches in parts of Kosciusko County. INDOT has much of Northern Indiana on travel warning status, meaning that road conditions are treacherous and travel should be limited if at all possible. The snow, icy road conditions and the cold conditions also led most, if not all, schools in our listening area to either close or start the day with a delay of some amount. With the poor road conditions, INDOT is reminding all drivers to use extra caution when traveling. Be sure the windows on your vehicle are cleared of snow and ice, scrape off your headlights and tail lights so they are visible to other drivers, give plenty of room between your car and the vehicle in front of you, as well as planning extra time to stop at intersections. In addition, all travelers should have a winter driving preparedness kit containing extra warm clothes, blankets, a flashlight, phone charger, water and snacks.
