Farmers in Indiana, and across the U.S., will soon begin receiving checks from the federal government as part of a billion-dollar bailout to help those experiencing financial strain from President Donald Trump’s trade disputes with China.
But even farmers poised for big payouts worry it won’t be enough, and some growers say disappointing aid outcomes could potentially affect their vote in the November election.
The Trump administration is providing up to $12 billion in emergency relief for American farmers.
The three-pronged plan includes $4.7 million in payments to corn, cotton, soybean, dairy, pork and sorghum farmers. Soybean growers will get the largest checks.
