Barbara Hamer, co-owner of Pie-Eyed Petey’s on Tippecanoe Lake, addressed an underage sales violation and fine with the Alcohol and Tobacco Commission at its Kosciusko County meeting Thursday afternoon.
Hamer admitted there was a similar violation “several years ago,” and she was exceptionally concerned about this one. She also said she’d have likely served the patron in question, making a point not to blame the server. The server, who was not named in the meeting, also was fined.
“I’d have sworn she was 25,” said Hamer. “These days it’s just so hard to tell. So after that I just told everyone, ‘Card everybody; I don’t care if they’re 40.’”
The bar is currently closed, and Hamer said she and husband/co-owner Roy are taking a break but are likely retired.
The alcohol permit is in escrow, and after the renewal approval from the board will stay in escrow until new operators come in to take over.
