The K21 Health Foundation is giving the City of Warsaw a grant to help pay for Rotary Park construction.
The $20,000 gift was approved by K21’s Board of Directors late last week. The Times-Union reports the funds bring the total amount raised for the park up to $92,679.
Money from K21 will be used to purchase man-made boulders, for climbing, or as some call it, “bouldering.”
One of the boulders will be 9 feet tall. The additions will be installed next spring.
K21 President & CEO Rich Haddad celebrates their involvement with the park.
“K21 is very excited to see the completion of Rotary Park and the city’s continued effort to improve the vibrancy of our community, particularly since it will be located on a side of town where there are very few parks, and it will offer the unique feature of large rocks for those who enjoy climbing,” he explains.
Park organizers say they hope to have it finished by June of 2019 in order to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of Warsaw’s Rotary Club.
In addition to the climbing rocks, features of the park will include a bike repair station, cogg monument, drinking fountains, and a pavilion with picnic tables.
