Who’s the bigger Washington insider? 2nd District Representative Jackie Walorski? Or her Democratic challenger Mel Hall? The two repeatedly waged the insider accusation at each other during the first District 2 Congressional Debate, which aired on WSBT-TV on Monday, Oct. 8.
Other issues discussed during the debate included illegal immigration, gun control, international trade and the economy, as well as partisan bickering between the two major parties.
After the debate, both Walorski and Hall claimed victory.
Here is the statement released by the Walorski camp:
After tonight’s debate, the contrasts between Jackie Walorski and Democrat Mel Hall could not be more clear,” said Walorski for Congress campaign manager Stephen Simonetti. “DC insider Mel Hall is attacking Jackie’s record because he can’t defend his own. Hoosiers know Jackie Walorski is on their side and fighting to give Hoosier families a shot at the American Dream.”
Here is the statement released by the Hall camp:
“There’s no question that Mel’s plans to protect health care and clean up Congress are what Hoosiers in the 2nd District want,” said Max Harris, Hall’s campaign manager. “There’s a clear choice in this election between Jackie Walorski, a career politician with a failed record on health care, and Mel Hall, a proven problem solver who will work across the aisle and get results. That choice was on full display tonight.”
