Severe winter weather during the past eight weeks has impacted the nation's blood supply, including the supply in Kosciusko County. So far, March storms have forced the cancellation of more than 200 American Red Cross blood drives, resulting in nearly 7,000 uncollected blood and platelet donations. This shortfall follows more than 26-thousand uncollected donations in February due to severe weather across more than two dozen states. With that, the American Red Cross is once again, relaying the urgent need for donors to help restock shelves now that the severe weather has passed.
