A primary will be May 5 for the mayor, clerk-treasurer and Warsaw City Council seats. The contested offices include clerk-treasurer and city council at-large, while the office of mayor is uncontested.
The event will begin with a meet and greet so constituents can meet the candidates and there will be a question and answer opportunity for the contested candidates.
Contested offices include clerk-treasurer, Lynne Christiansen and Larry Ladd; and at-large council, Cindy Dobbins, Connie Fribley, Patrick Loebs, Justin Risner, Juergen Voss, Jack Wilhite and David Baumgartner.
Uncontested races include mayor, Joe Thallemer; city council District 1, Jeff Grose; District 2, Charlie Smith; District 3, Mike Klondaris; District 4, Jerry Frush; and District 5, Diane Quance.
Also on this year’s Primary Election ballot is the local referendum question for Warsaw Community Schools, which reads: “Shall Warsaw Community Schools issue bonds or enter into a lease to finance the construction of a replacement of Lincoln Elementary School and the renovation of and improvements to the Washington Elementary School and Edgewood Middle School, which is estimated to cost not more than $39,900,000 and is estimated to increase the property tax rate for debt service by a maximum of $0.138 per $100 of assessed valuation over the 20 year life of the bonds?”
