Indiana State Police Master Trooper Kevin Kubsch is set to retire after 38 years of service with the department. Kubsch will continue to serve the community and protect students in his new position with Union-North United School Corporation where he will serve as Director of School Safety and Student Services.
Kubsch, a native of South Bend and graduate of Mishawaka Marian High School, was appointed to the department in July of 1980 after graduating from the Indiana State Police Recruit Academy. He was first assigned to the South Bend State Police Post until it closed in 1982 when the Bremen Post opened. Kubsch has patrolled St. Joseph County for all 38 years of his service.
During his time with the Indiana State Police, Kubsch has served as a Field Training Officer and served for14 years on the Emergency Response Team. In 1988, Kubsch started the Respect for Law Camp held at Notre Dame and also spent seven years working team security with the University of Notre Dame Football program.
Kubsch currently lives in Lakeville with his wife Judy, who serves as a corporal with the Indiana State Police at the Toll Road Post, and his son, Sean. He also has an adult daughter, Sarah, and a grandchild.
