An Indiana State Trooper and the Albion Town Marshal worked together to save a six-year-old girl’s life Wednesday.
Around 5:17 p.m., the Noble County Sheriff Department received a 911 call reporting a six-year-old girl was stuck in a grain hopper in the 2500 block of State Road 8 near Skinner Lake.
Albion Town Marshall Scott Cole and Indiana State Police Trooper Richard Williams responded to the scene, and upon arrival, found the child’s legs hanging from the bottom of a feeder wagon.
The officers first attempted to push the girl back up, but with no luck. They then climbed into the feeder wagon and began removing corn from around the child’s face.
An Albion firefighter arrived to the scene and assisted the officers.
After several minutes of digging, the officers were able to pull the child out of the corn and to safety. She was transported by EMS to Parkview Noble Hospital and was later released.
