Last Thursday 54 new troopers graduated from the Indiana State Police Recruit Academy after completing a journey that consisted of 22 weeks of intense training. The recruits completed over 1,000 hours of academic and hands-on training in criminal and traffic law, crash investigation, emergency vehicle operations, defensive tactics, firearms, and other classes necessary for modern policing.
These troopers will now begin three months of field training where they will work next to veteran field training officers. After successfully completing this phase, the troopers will be issued their own police cars and begin solo patrol on the Indiana Toll Road.
Ben Walker-A native of Monroe, MI that was home-schooled. Walker owned his own landscaping company before attending the Indiana State Police Recruit Academy. He currently resides in Angola, IN.
Nathan Littlefield-A native of Syracuse, IN and a graduate of Concord High School. He went on to earn a Criminal Justice degree from Southwestern College in Michigan. Littlefield currently resides in Syracuse, IN.
Logan Hensley-A native of Angola, IN and a graduate of Angola High School. Hensley earned an Associates Degree in general studies from Ivy Tech. He currently resides in Valparaiso, IN.
Alejandro Hernandez-A native of Butler, IN and a graduate of Eastside High School. Hernandez earned a degree in Criminal Justice from Ivy Tech and Trine University. He currently resides in Waterloo, IN.
Jacob Bill-A native of Warsaw, IN and a graduate of Warsaw High School. After high school Bill joined the Air National Guard. He currently resides in Warsaw, IN.
Adam Kitson-A native of Hudson, IN and a graduate of Prairie Heights High School. Kitson earned degrees in Criminal Justice and Psychology from Tri-State University. He currently resides in Fremont, IN.
Jenna Makin-A native of Elkhart, IN and a graduate of Concord High School. She earned a Criminal Justice degree from Indiana University South Bend and interned with the Indiana State Police. Makin currently resides in Elkhart, IN.
Keith Doyle-A native of Elkhart, IN and a graduate of Concord High School. Doyle joined the Air Force and served five years of active duty and two years in the Air National Guard. He currently lives in Mishawaka, IN.
Thomas Johnson-A native of Elkhart, IN and a graduate of Memorial High School. Prior to attending the Indiana State Police Recruit Academy, Johnson worked for Lippert Components. He currently resides in Bristol, IN.
Luis Alvarez-A native of Warsaw, IN and a graduate of Warsaw High School. Alvarez earned an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Ivy Tech. He currently resides in Warsaw, IN.
