The 2015 Campaign Pacesetters are underway including employees from The Bowen Center, Danco Anodizing and the three school corporations, Tippecanoe Valley, Warsaw and Wawasee.
These companies have been hard at work planning their activities to jumpstart the campaign for United Way. Pacesetters will be running their campaigns through the month of August, according to a release from United Way of Kosciusko County.
The Bowen Center is concentrating on informing its employees of the role that United Way plays in the program “Moving Forward” with Enchanted Hills residents. Rick Patton, director of the Moving Forward program, expressed the hope that this program gives to various residents of Enchanted Hills, involving education, vocational training and community growth, the release states.
The Bowen Center was founded in May 1960 as the Four County Mental Health Clinic offering outpatient psychiatric care to residents of Kosciusko, Marshall, Wabash and Whitley counties. It later moved to a two-story, 80-year-old house in Warsaw, and in 1977, the name was changed to The Otis R. Bowen Center for Human Services Inc., in honor of Gov. Otis R. Bowen, M.D., a native of the center's service area – Bremen in Marshall County – and a major supporter of the community mental health center system in Indiana.
This year all three school corporations of Kosciusko County will be having a friendly competition as Pacesetters for United Way.
Wawasee Schools Superintendent Dr. Tom Edington is quoted as saying, “Wawasee is excited to enter into a friendly competition with Tippecanoe Valley and Warsaw. Our children will be the winners through improved United Way programs. United Way does so much to support Wawasee Schools and partner with our efforts with children. Baker Youth Club, Kindergarten Countdown, preschool support, Head Start, and Teen Parents Succeeding are wonderful programs assisting our school community. There will be a traveling trophy representing the school corporation who has the highest percentage of participants in this year’s campaign.”
Danco Anodizing opened its Warsaw facility in 2001 in response to Orthopedic customers’ requests, according to the release. Danco Anodizing, a Nadcap Certified Company, has gained recognition from the National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program, which the company says reaffirms its commitment to high-quality standards, the release states. Danco is now an accredited Nadcap source for chemical processing and also for its quality system.
Danco will start off the United Way campaign with activities such as a dunk tank game featuring both management and employees. Other planned events include a salad and dessert bar, raffle tickets for prizes and coin wars and will end with a bake sale.
United Way expressed appreciation in the release for the Pacesetters for their support.
