The residents of Warsaw will be looking at a store closure in the coming months as the Kmart in Warsaw is set to shut its doors.
“After careful review, we have made the difficult but necessary decision to close the Kmart store in Warsaw, Indiana,” said a press release from Transform Co., the parent company of Sears and Kmart.
The Warsaw store is part of a plan to close five Kmarts and 21 Sears stores across the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
The Sears store in Warsaw is not part of Transform Co., is not affected by the closings and will remain open.
Liquidation sales are expected to begin in late August, with the store slated to close between late October and late November.
“As we promised, all eligible associates will be offered the same number of weeks of severance as offered to employees of Sears Holdings Corporation prior to that company’s Chapter 11 filing in October 2018,” the press release said.
Sears Holdings will further evaluate its Sears and Kmart stores, not ruling out any futher closings.
“Our goal remains to return the company to profitability and preserve as many jobs as possible in the communities we serve,” the press release stated.
Todd Reynolds, store manager of the Warsaw Kmart, did not have any comment when asked how he felt about the store closing.
