The man who suffered fatal injuries in an industrial accident Friday has been identified as Cedric T. Barnett, 31, Elkhart.
Warsaw Police responded to a location at 2001 West Winona Avenue after a call came in for a worker who was struck by a front loader. The location is being used as a staging grounds and offices for Meade, a pipe-laying company contracted to do work for NIPSCO in the area.
Police say a front loader was in reverse when it struck Barnett in the head. Officials say he suffered a catastrophic head injury and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Kosciusko County coroner.
Currently, investigators believe this to be an accidental death as there is no evidence of foul play. The coroner has scheduled an autopsy as is standard in a workplace accident involving death and authorities are working to notify next-of-kin. The investigation continues and at the time of this release, representatives of OSHA were on the way to the scene to conduct their investigation.
