NIPSCO says over 62,000 homes were without power following the windstorm and rains earlier this week.
The two day event had winds in excess of 55 MPH and workers performed 1,020 individual repairs throughout their network to get their customers back up.
Officials say most customers had power back within 24 hours, but some were out for as long as 72 hours. Outside resources were added to the restoration efforts, which nearly doubled the workforce working around-the-clock to return service to every single affected customer.
NIPSCO officials also wanted to give their thanks for patience from customers, “We truly appreciate the patience and understanding you showed as our crews worked as quickly and safely as possible to restore electric service in your neighborhood.”
“We know an interruption in your electric service for any length of time can be frustrating and inconvenient, especially when it might last for an extended period of time.”
