Area teachers will be heading to Indianapolis for a rally at the statehouse Tuesday.
Warsaw and Whitko Schools will be closed tomorrow because of the lack of resources to fill in for those teachers who will be away. Triton and Wawasee Schools have teachers attending the rally, but will still remain open.
The Indiana State Teachers Association have three goals for the rally, including teacher pay, holding lawmakers on their promise to hold schools harmless from the low ILEARN test scores, and it wants a new professional development requirement repealed.
Over 100 districts and thousands of teachers are expected to be represented during the day tomorrow.
Gov. Eric Holcomb isn’t expected to be around the Statehouse. Holcomb’s office says he will be in Florida on Tuesday for a Republican Governors Association conference that was scheduled months ago.
