A driver’s disregard of a stop sign at the intersection of South Union Street and West Winona Avenue sent two adults and one infant to the hospital late Thursday morning.
Warsaw Police Department arrived at the scene of the two-vehicle collision at 11:54 a.m. The drivers were Marilia K. Leasure, 38, North Hillcrest Drive, South Whitley, and Rachael E. Fruit, 23, EMS W30B Lane, North Webster.
Riding with Fruit were her infant daughter, Carmen, and Dustin K. Catanzarite, 28. Rachael Fruit and Catanzarite both complained of neck pain, while Carmen suffered abrasions to her face. All three were transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital.
Leasure was driving north on South Union Street in Warsaw when, after failing to stop, hit the driver side of Fruit’s car, according to the WPD accident report. Warsaw Fire Department later had to use the jaws of life to get Fruit out of the damaged vehicle.
Damages to the vehicles were estimated at $25,000 to $50,000.
