Testing has been staying busy in Warsaw and Kosciusko County, and it could be expanding in the near future. Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer said an announcement can be expected by the end of the week.
Thallemer says the state testing site in Central Park has done nearly 1,200 tests as of the end of Tuesday, 288 done that day alone. Thallemer said the site is “very important and critical for the need for testing here.” The state site has extended their time in Warsaw through Saturday, August 8th.
The state testing site will not test anyone under the age of 12, however the MedStat locations will. Kosciusko County Health Officer Dr. Bill Remington noted that the turnaround with results have been quicker at the state sites because samples head to the lab in Indianapolis, while MedStat is using a commercial company, which is currently in a backlog, delaying results.
