Goshen Teens Involved With Battery Of Man In Park Formally Charged As Adults

Two Goshen teens arrested in connection with the battery of an elderly man at Rogers Park have been formally charged in adult court.  16-year-old Keenan Baker and 17-year-old Austin Handshoe are charged with one count of robbery resulting in bodily injury. The teens were arrested last week after the Goshen Police released a video showing Handshoe striking a 54-year-old man. According to court files, Baker and Handshoe stole a bottle of whiskey from the victim. Baker’s mother, argues the teens did not steal the bottle and that Rugg was yelling racial slurs before Baker and Handshoe confronted him. An initial hearing for the teens is set for Thursday. If convicted, both boys face a sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
