A major spike in coronavirus cases were seen throughout Kosciusko County in October.
The latest report from the Kosciusko County Health Department on Wednesday showed that 1,009 positive tests were reported throughout October, significantly higher than the 272 reported all of September.
Between last Thursday at noon and Tuesday at noon, 320 new COVID cases were seen in the county along with one additional death. This brings the cumulative number of cases in the county up to 2,916 and 30 deaths.
Of those cases, 921 are considered active and 34 people are hospitalized. 1,544 people have recovered from the virus.
In recent weeks, the weekly cases per 100,000 residents has gone up to 459.4 as of last Saturday, up from just 70.5 weekly cases just five weeks ago.
