A Fort Wayne man who shot another man he knew inside a Kroger two years ago has been found guilty of attempted murder and criminal recklessness.
On December 19, 2018, Marr Brown got into a verbal argument with James Walker Jr. in aisle 5 of the Kroger on North Clinton Street. Then, Brown pulled out a gun, shot Walker three times in the leg, and calmly left the store.
Walker was left critically hurt in the shooting. Brown was pulled over and arrested in a traffic stop a few days later. Brown told police he shot in self-defense, thinking Walker was reaching for a gun. He also said Walker had threatened him numerous times in the past.
On Wednesday, a jury decided that even with the threats made by Walker, Brown shouldn’t have shot him. He faces between 10 and 42 years in prison.
