Bremen Man In Serious Condition After Hitting Horse

KCSD Press Release – Kosciusko County Sheriff's Deputies and emergency personnel were dispatched this morning at 5:51 a.m. to a 9-1-1 call of a vehicle that had collided with a horse.  Officers arrived and located the driver, Isaac X. Rosentreter, 19, Bremen, inside his 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse, in serious condition.  Rosentreter was transported by Nappanee E.M.S. to the Community Hospital of Bremen with facial injuries and other abrasions.

Officers stated that Rosentreter had been eastbound on County Road 1350 North, near the intersection of County Road 1025 West, when a horse suddenly entered into the roadway.  Rosentreter reportedly attempted to brake but was unable to avoid striking the animal, which died upon impact.  Officers stated that the horse belonged to James Bontrager, Nappanee, and had appeared to have pushed a watering trough to the side, allowing it to exit the fence area.
