After about 18 months of legal disputes, the city of Goshen owns the old Goshen Inn property. The city got the deed about two weeks ago. The former hotel has been vacant since 2011, when its owner was killed by one of his employees. Over the last four years, the Goshen Police Department has responded to more than 40 calls at the property, many times for vandalism and, in 2014, Goshen firefighters responded to a fire at the inn that was ruled an arson. During the commission’s meeting Monday, The Elkhart Truth reports commissioners said they want to see the property out of their hands sooner rather than later. City officials previously have said at least 40 potential developers have shown interest in the property.
