A hearing on a campground to go behind an auto business along South Buffalo Street in Warsaw was discussed at Monday’s Board of Zoning Appeals meeting.
The board heard from Alan Hoyt, the owner of Global Auto, who wants to convert property behind his repair shop into a “state of the art” campground for RVs and tents. The proposed campground would have thirteen camp sites, laundry and shower facilities and an office. Because the grounds are in a C-2, or Commercial-2 zone, a campground is not permitted as outlined in the municipal code.
The board received a letter from a neighbor, who was concerned that the property is not large enough to support a campground, the seasonal campers, and would be concerned about noise, trash and campfire smoke. Several nearby residents also attended the meeting in person, speaking in opposition of the campground.
The board unanimously denied the request for the campground.
