Four candidates have been identified as potential replacements for Judge David Cates in Kosciusko County Superior Court 1.
They are County Prosecutor Dan Hampton, attorney Karin McGrath, former Whitley County deputy prosecutor Lindsey Grossnickle and attorney Doug Lemon.
Cates died of a heart attack at home last month after being re-elected to a second term in November.
Governor Holcomb will choose the new judge for Superior 1 from the four applicants, and is likely to announce his choice in early spring.
The Times Union reports that Special Judge Karen Springer is presiding over cases in Superior Court I until Holcomb makes his choice.
