A new partnership with a local medical company is opening up opportunities for high school students looking to get into the engineering field.
Warsaw-based WishBone Medical announced a partnership with Whitko Career Academy and Red Star Contract Manufacturing in Larwill that will bring on hands-on experience to students as part of WCA’s engineering curriculum. Students will be manufacturing plate templates for WishBone’s EpiFIX TM Growth Control Plating System, which help surgeons to determine the appropriate plate size for pediatric patients prior to surgery.
The templates project enables students to learn professional skills related to precision machining, fabrication, engineering and business. Devices will be processed at the Career Academy and then finished at Red Star Contract Manufacturing.
