Opposition to a House Bill recently brought up in Indianapolis in regards to solar and wind energy farms on a local scale was discussed by county commissioners on Friday.
County Attorney Ed Ormsby read off House Bill 1381 at the county commissioner’s meeting, which states that local authorities cannot impose stricter rules or regulations in regards to land use for the building of solar or wind farms that would intervene with rules written in the house bill.
Commissioner Cary Groninger broke it down into layman’s terms:
Groninger went on to say that the county is not against green energy, but rather being against someone outside of the local community telling those who live in the community what they can and cannot do. The commissioners unanimously approved the resolution.
