Tippecanoe Valley School Corp. Board of Trustees began with a touching memorial for the three locals who died in a plane crash Oct. 2.
Superintendent Brett Boggs started the discussion about Charlie Smith, Scott Smith and Scott Bibler. Other board members and local Pastor Amber Karksoky shared about the impact the three had on the Valley community.
Also killed in the crash was Tony Elliott.
A majority of the meeting was focused on the building project at Akron Elementary School. The designing company provided graphics of the expected project. Most of the building will be torn down and replaced while other parts will be renovated. Other points of discussion were roofing materials, ventilation and building components.
In other news, the school board adopted the 2016 budget. The general fund will be $15,999.515; the debt services will be $2,798,484; the transportation fund will receive $1,760,680; $333,000 for bus replacement fund; $2,798484 for capital projects.
