A Leesburg man was recognized on Tuesday for his lifesaving efforts following a motorcycle crash last June.
The Kosciusko County Commissioners recognized Cory Black with a certificate after he saved the life of Joshua Parker of Syracuse. The crash happened along State Road 15 in Leesburg, when a car turned into the path of Parker’s northbound motorcycle, which caused him to be ejected from the bike.
Parker was said to suffer severe lacerations and his injuries were considered life-threatening. The crash happened outside of Black’s house, and he rushed out to help by applying a tourniquet to Parker’s leg to stop the bleeding. He was flown to South Bend where he made a full recovery. Parker was also at the meeting Tuesday, saying he thanks Black “from the bottom of his heart” for saving his life.
