The third pretrial for alleged murderer Thomas Hursey was held Monday afternoon in Kosciusko County, but he was not present for the meeting.
Hursey, 27, of 677 Walter Way, Warsaw, has been charged with four felonies: two counts of murder, committing a robbery resulting in serious injury and obstruction of justice.
According to the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office, Hursey and his attorney, Antony Garza, have requested a further pretrial conference. This will be the final pretrial and will take place Oct. 26 at 3 p.m.
Hursey has been ordered to personally appear in court at this pretrial by Judge Michael Reed. The last two meetings in court resulted in more information being provided to the case.
Hursey is one of three men charged with murder in the shootings of Josh Knisley and Tara Thornburg Feb. 19 in Syracuse. Hursey has admitted to police that he was present with Brandon Woody and Kyle Dehart at one of the victim’s home when the alleged murders occurred.
All three defendants have had their cases separated from each other. Woody is seeking a change of venue as the defense does not believe that Warsaw can provide an unbiased jury trial. Nothing is scheduled at this time.
