Lake Wawasee Hit-And-Run Suspect Identified

The suspect in a hit-and-run boat accident Sept. 23 on Lake Wawasee has been identified by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
Sean A. Dada, 32, Syracuse, was preliminarily charged in the Kosciusko County Superior Court with one misdemeanor count each of dangerous operation of a motorboat and leaving the scene of a property damage boat accident, according to an IDNR press release issued Friday afternoon.
The accident occurred in the early morning hours of Sept. 23 on Lake Wawasee.
Indiana conservation officers were assisted by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department Lake Patrol as well as several members of the public who came forward with information leading to the filing of charges against Dada, the release states.
Officers allege that Dada operated a 1980 25-foot Chris Craft cabin cruiser motorboat on the morning in question and collided at a high rate of speed with a  pier at 11769 N. Ogden Point Road, causing nearly $20,000 in damage to the pier and another $1,000 damage to his boat.
Alcohol is believed to a factor in the accident as well as the watercraft being in an unsafe state of repair.
