Whether it's one inch of snow, four… or even more, officials with the Indiana Department of Transportation say they are prepared. Last winter, nearly 278-thousand tons of granular salt and more than 5 million gallons of salt brine were deployed on state and federal highways. INDOT already has more than 193,000 tons of salt on hand and continues to receive more deliveries. Also last winter, INDOT plow trucks logged more than 5-and-a-half million miles – the equivalent of 228 trips around the earth or 12 round trips to moon.
