TIMES UNION REPORTS – A North Manchester man was arrested after allegedly asking if two children wanted to watch pornography with him.
Ty Parrett, 26, of 12600 S. Ind. 13, #21, North Manchester, is charged with inappropriate communication with a child, a Class A misdemeanor.
Parrett was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 2:59 p.m. Tuesday. His bond was preliminarily set at $1,000.
According to the probable cause affidavit, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy met with a woman about an incident regarding her daughter. The woman provided deputies with screenshots she had gotten off her daughter’s phone of communications in which Parrett was talking with two children under the age of 14 on Feb. 25 and 26.
During the course of the investigation, deputies conducted a download of the phones of both children and located a text conversation on Facebook Messenger between one of the children and Parrett. Parrett asked if both children would come watch pornography with him while other adults in the residence were sleeping.
Parrett told one of the children in the Facebook message he would give them $60 to watch porn with him and $100 to $120 if he could show them his genitalia.
Deputies spoke to one of the children who said, between Feb. 25 and 26, both children were at Parrett’s residence helping to babysit when Parrett started messaging them on one of their phones. They were in the front of the house while Parrett was in the back bedroom. The child said Parrett wanted the two children to watch porn with him. The child also said Parrett offered money to watch it with him.
The child said Parrett’s wife was told about the messages, but she dismissed the messages saying they are fake and accused the child of making them up, according to court documents.
Deputies were given permission and performed a forensic download of one of the phones and located a conversation of Parrett with one of the victims.
Parrett went to the KCSO for an interview. After reviewing and waiving his Miranda rights, Parrett agreed to talk to deputies. Parrett denied ever contacting one of the children on Facebook Messenger. He initially told the detectives that he though his account had been hacked. Parrett later said he communicated with one of the children through Facebook Messenger and acknowledge the conversation about watching porn was initiated by him and not a hacker.
