Kosciusko Co.: Mobile Meals, disabled van transportation and a senior activity center are some of the programs in which the Kosciusko Community Senior Services offers support to their senior members. This year, The Grossnickle Foundation, a donor-advised fund of the Kosciusko County Community Foundation, and established by Drs. Paul, Steve and Bruce Grossnickle – were able to contribute to the organization by granting 4,000 which will benefit senior members. They also are striving to fund 400 rides, states Community Senior Services Executive Director David Neff. He also stated how they are “so grateful for the support.”
–“This grant will help us continue to provide handicapped accessible rides to medical
appointments and nutritional needs for our Kosciusko County senior population. The
service allows seniors to remain in their homes for as long as possible. Our drivers go
into the homes to assist seniors to get on the buses and vans and will even carry in
groceries for them. This grant will help sustain this vital service to an often forgotten
segment of our population of senior citizens.”
In 2021, over 14,000 rides were provided to senior members through the organization, (Kosciusko Community Senior Services). Medical and nutritional needs were top priority.
“Grossnickle Eye Center employees are encouraged to submit requests for funding of local non-profits, and these requests provide guidance for how grants from the fund are awarded. The fund has awarded a total of $21,000 so far”, writes Kosciusko Community Foundation.
