On Oct. 8 at 10 a.m., Habitat for Humanity will officially dedicate its 35th house in Kosciusko County.
This dedication and celebration event is in partnership with the Salvation Army of Warsaw, a supporter of this build.
“This is our time to look back on what God has done throughout this build,” said Ben Logan, Habitat’s executive director. “If you are a donor, volunteer or supporter of Habitat, or you just want to be a part of the celebration, we encourage you to come on out and see the end result of your generosity.”
Since breaking ground in March, this home has been the fastest and most involved build to date for Habitat in Kosciusko County, according to a news release. Over 1,200 hours of volunteer labor helped build this home, and the typical build schedule of nine months was quickly shortened to six months. Supporters of Habitat raised over $100,000 to build this home, an important piece of the puzzle given current construction costs, the release states.
“This home has been a success in many ways, for both Habitat and the community,” Logan said. “We could not do it without our many donors and volunteers who support our work. We are eager to grow soon to address the need for affordable homeownership opportunities here in Kosciusko County.”
The dedication and celebration event is being held at 10 a.m. Oct. 8 at the home, located at 625 N. Ellsworth St., Warsaw. Those wishing to attend the event are encouraged to park in the Salvation Army’s parking lot, and to carpool to save space. There will be a short ceremony, followed by a time to walk through the home, meet the homeowner and enjoy some refreshments. The Salvation Army building across the street will be used in case of rain.
