Longtime public servant Julie Kline is stepping down from her position as Syracuse clerk treasurer.
Kline has worked in the treasurer’s office for over 25 years. She started as the deputy treasurer in 1989 and became clerk treasurer in 2004. Town Council member Paul Stoelting shared his and the council’s appreciation for everything Kline has done in her position. Paula Kehr-Wicker will be replacing Kline in 2016.
“It has been a pleasure working with you all,” Kline said. “I’m not leaving town, and will still help when I can.”
Three council members were sworn in at the December town council meeting Tuesday night. Brian Woody and Bill Musser were reappointed to their respective positions while newcomer Tom Hoover will be replacing District 3 representative Kathy Beer.
Hoover has been a resident of Syracuse since 1972. He said he is looking forward to this opportunity starting in 2016.
Larry Siegel was elected as town council president for 2016. Vern Landis will also stay on as the town’s attorney for 2016.
In other news, resident Jessica Griffith told council that the cul-de-sac she lives in on Thwaits Court has no streetlights. She said that the closest streetlight is at the intersection of Kinder and Wildwood drives. The board agreed that this needs to fixed, and Town Manager Henry DeJulia will see to the project.
Town Marshal Jim Layne advised that there were 416 calls for service, four property damage accidents, 14 arrests and 42 traffic tickets for November.
The board also approved the purchase of two new town office computers from Mastermind Computers for $1,100 each.
