WARSAW — A Warsaw man was injured after being hit by a pickup while walking on the side of the road on Ind. 15 near West Levi Lee Road Thursday.
According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department accident report, at approximately 7:10 a.m. Thursday, Araceli Martinez, 48, Sunset Drive, Winona Lake, was driving a 2009 pickup on Ind. 15 near West Levi Lee Road, heading to work.
She said she was following the flow of traffic when she hit a pedestrian, identified as Dustin J. Sieglinger, 39, East Center Street, Warsaw, on the right side of the road.
She immediately stopped and called 911. Martinez said she didn’t see Sieglinger walking on the side of the road.
Sieglinger said he was walking northbound on Ind. 15 near West Levi Lee Road when he was hit in the back of the head and left shoulder blade by the side mirror of the vehicle. He said he was not walking in the roadway and couldn’t believe he couldn’t be seen by Martinez as Sieglinger said he was wearing a bright orange coat.
Sieglinger was transported to Fort Wayne Lutheran Hospital due to head and shoulder pain.
