WARSAW — Kosciusko County officials spent part of Tuesday afternoon reviewing proposals to determine how to use the remaining money from President Biden’s American Rescue Plan Act.
The county’s ARPA committee reviewed 14 spending proposals and approved a handful of them, including two major proposals.
The committee’s recommendations include setting aside $2.4 million for interior renovations to much of the Justice Building in Warsaw and another $1.8 million for road improvements to CR 1300N.
The roadwork will tie in with other road improvements in the area that are directly benefiting local businesses.
Renovations to the justice building involve new wallpaper, carpet and paint. The upgrades are the first in the building’s history dating back to 1981.
The panel also recommended providing $500,000 to Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts for renovations to its building and $100,000 for a new digital sign for the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau office along US 30 in Warsaw.
The recommendations go to the county commissioners and county council for final approval.
The panel delayed decisions on several other proposals wound will meet again on July 12.
