News Release
WARSAW — The Theatre Department at Warsaw Community High School announces the cast of its fall 2023 production of “My Heart Says Go,” with performances set for November 3-5 at the WCHS Performing Arts Center.
The production will feature 19 WCHS students, with another dozen or more students holding student-led crew positions.
“My Heart Says Go” follows a young man, Indigo (Joel Montoya), who is unclear about his career path as a doctor because it’s what his father (Sam McIntyre) wants. His heart is telling him something else. The musical tells a story about following your true path and the freedom that comes along with it.
The storyline is carefully weaved through a variety of musical numbers and scenes by a Conductor (Abigail Fisher). During the journey, Indigo meets a new friend named Clara (Shannon Smith), and she has her own intense struggles with her mother (Lillian House).
By the end of the story, the characters find a new respect and understanding of one another, while facing tragedies that many students are far too familiar with.
The story also features characters Timmy (Deaglan Gardner), Rob (Ryan Clark), Bree (Aubrey Harp), Grace (Ally Trolinger), Chance (Hunter Fitterling), Tuck (Brandon Leeka), Dr. Wilson (Emma Ferguson) and an ensemble of singers and dancers (Elle Brouwer, Jaylyn Allison, DeeDee Pol, Jadyn McCleod, Scarlett Shaffer, Gianna Stouder and Gavin Ott).
The show was created by Matt Hawkins and Jorge ‘Jay’ Rivera-Herrans and made its world debut at South Bend Civic Theatre earlier this year.
Performances are November 3-5. Friday and Saturday night performances begin at 7 p.m. with Saturday and Sunday matinees scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students.
Tickets may be purchased at www.warsawperformingarts.
“My Heart Says Go” is made by arrangement with Matt Hawkins and Jorge Rivera-Herrans.
