WARSAW — The Warsaw Parks Department is taking steps to make sure tonight’s Rockin’ for Riley concert featuring Everclear remains as cool as possible amid what’s been a hot week so far.
Along with humid conditions, high temperatures are expected to be near 95 today.
Recreation Director Stephanie Schaefer said the city is getting an assist from Rabb Water Systems ahead of the concert.
“Rabb has given us a water trailer that we will be bringing in,” Schaefer said, “It’s going to be … next to the restrooms and between the stage and McDonalds.”
Fans are encouraged to bring water bottles that can filled up at the water station, she said.
A misting station with fans will also be available for anyone who needs some relief.
“We’re excited for Everclear to be here in town,” Schaefer said. “I just want to remind everyone to take care of themselves, pay attention if they’re not feeling well (and) seek help and stay hydrated.”
The opening act is The Michael Weber Show, which performs at 6:30 p.m. Everclear takes the stage at 8 p.m.
The free event also will have food trucks, to purchase food and beverage items, before and during the music.
107.3 WRSW’s Kris Lake adds that anyone who can’t make it to the show tonight can still donate to Riley’s Children’s Hospital by clicking on this link.
This concert is sponsored by 107.3 WRSW, Zimmer Biomet, McDonald’s and DePuy Synthes.
Also Friday is Warsaw’s Third Friday in the downtown, which runs from 4-7 p.m. and features a meetup of motorcycle groups from around the state. ABATE will host a “Tiny Tots Motorcycle Experience.” Food and music is also part of the fun.
There will also be a tattoo judging contest. About 30 different vendors will be on hand and music will be provided by 107.3 WRSW.
At the same time, the Historical Society will host a miniature circus display.
And in Milford, also Friday night, it’s Food Truck Friday, with an estimated two dozen food vendors. That event runs from 5 to 8 p.m.
The Mermaid Festival continues tonight and runs through Saturday.
Friday night highlights include the Cutie Pageant at 7 p.m.
The annual parade is at 4 p.m. Saturday.
Unfortunately, the tactical force laser tag show set for Thursday, Friday and Saturday, had to be canceled because the group’s trailer, full of equipment, was stolen, according to an announcement on the Mermaid festival Facebook page.
