WARSAW — Warsaw Community Public Library unveiled its newly redesigned website Monday highlighting some of its emerging services.
Library Director Heather Barron said plans for the new website have been in the works for a while and that the new version was needed specifically to highlight a reader-friendly event calendar, which now appears prominently at the top of the home page.
“We wanted to offer a website that was easier to navigate and helped us better showcase the services and materials,” Barron said. “I think a lot of people still have an older idea about what libraries have and there is so much more.”
The new website also spotlights how to access the library’s Streaming services, which some might not know is available.
Another growing service is known as the Library of Things, which offers a wide variety of non-traditional library items that can be borrowed.
The collection includes indoor and outdoor items ranging from games, croquet, cornhole, cooking equipment, wi-fi, air pumps, binoculars, cordless drills and even a CD player.
“If you think of it, there’s a chance we might have it in our Library of Things,” Barron said. “And these are, again, if you have a library card, free to borrow and check out,” Barron said. “Maybe you wanna use something that you don’t want to invest the money into, you wanna try it first, this is what this collection is for.”
Barron said they want to get the word out about four small meeting rooms that are available.
The website also embraces a new library logo that looks like a bookmark.
“A bookmark marks your place and we want to be your place for many, many thing,” she said.
