An assistant branch manager for Teachers Credit Union stole over $40,000 over the course of a year, police say.
Nanci Hanna, 45, of 1203 E. Smith St., Warsaw, was arrested Friday night for fraud against a financial institution, a level five felony. She was booked in Kosciusko County Jail with a $10,250 bond.
Teachers Credit Union branch manager Karen Mayer reported the theft on Jan. 15 after she noticed that a drawer had been short $39,520 and that Hanna’s drawer was short $2,910, according to the probable cause affidavit provided by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office.
An investigator from the company interviewed Hanna, who admitted to taking the $2,910 from her drawer. According to the report, when an employee left around June 2014, Hanna would transfer money from that employee’s drawer into her own, and would then steal the money. She did this from June 2014 to Dec. 22, 2015, and amassed $42,430.
