(Network Indiana) — If you use food stamps to get your groceries, you now have another option when purchasing online.

Hoosiers who are SNAP recipients and don’t feel safe going to the grocery store during the pandemic have only been able to buy groceries online from Walmart and Amazon. Now, ALDI is joining the program, through Instacart.

Shoppers use the Instacart app, enter their EBT card information, then their zip code to see if their local ALDI is a participating store. Once their done buying their groceries online, they can either pick them up outside the store or have them delivered.

“We are pleased to add another retailer to provide Hoosier SNAP recipients with this important service – particularly those who are most at risk for COVID-19 infection and those who are homebound,” said Jennifer Sullivan, Family and Social Services Administration secretary. “We are thankful to our federal partners at the Food and Nutrition Service for working with us to continue to remove barriers and provide safety and convenience for Hoosier families. While this service will initially and immediately address needs caused by the pandemic, we intend to keep this service in place permanently.
