An unpleasant surprise for 30-thousand Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield customers in Indiana who've been notified their health care insurance policies are being cancelled. The notice says they need to switch to plans that comply with the federal Affordable Care Act. That change could cause some customers' premiums to spike while limiting their choices of hospitals and doctors. An Anthem spokesman says although the law allows those who renewed their coverage before last December to continue it until as late as 2016, the insurer decided to end the transitional policies because only 25 percent of its individual members renewed early. About two-thirds of Anthem's small-employer customers early-renewed their plans in 2013, and Anthem will keep those plans in place for 2015.
