Some area counties will be getting a piece of $161-million in federal transportation grants.
A total of 66 cities, towns and counties in Indiana will be splitting the money for local road and bridge improvements, as well as sidewalk and trail projects. Once combined with local funds, the total amount of cash being invested in infrastructure is about $212-million.
Projects getting funds include 27 bridge rehabilitation or replacement projects, 6 traffic safety projects, and a number of sidewalk and trail projects.
