Attorney Admits To Stealing Settlement From Child

A former northwest Indiana attorney who admitted stealing more than $600,000 from a child's medical malpractice settlement and billing other clients has been sentenced to 10 years in prison. 53-year-old Clark Holesinger apologized before a federal judge in South Bend imposed the 10-year sentence and ordered him to pay restitution of more than $986,000 to his victims. The former Valparaiso attorney had pleaded guilty earlier this year to wire fraud and money laundering charges. Prosecutors say Holesinger stole more than $2 million, but has already settled with businesses that fell victim to his actions. The mother of a now 8-year-old child who was disabled at birth and lost more than 600-thousand dollars from a medical malpractice settlement to Holesinger called him “a thief and a liar.”
