People can run or walk at the Animal Welfare League’s first 5 K-9 Race Sunday.
It is at 6:30 p.m. at Winona Lake Park. This will be an officially and professionally managed event, according to information from the AWL. Participants also may run or walk with their dog if they are willing to take a scooper pooper bag along.
The event is priced at only $25 and runners will receive a free T-shirt. There will be a raffle and prizes for the winners.
John Kuhn, a member of Kosciusko Youth Leadership Academy, is heading up the project to raise funds for the shelter.
Executive Director Darla McCammon said, “John is doing a great job of organizing this event and (co-organizer) Carlee Heald will be on hand to help him. We will also have our staff at the event with some of our pets that are available for adoption. We are proud of this new opportunity for our community to have a good time and yet help us raise funds for our new building project.”
