Banks is running for his fourth term in the United States House of Representatives and has been serving the people of Indiana since 2010, first as a state senator and as their representative in Washington, D.C., since 2017, according to a news release from his office. He is chairman of the Republican Study Committee, which is the largest conservative caucus in Congress and is made up of House Republicans.
In announcing his re-election campaign, Banks said: “We have made much progress defending northeast Indiana’s conservative values, but there is more work to be done to stop Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats from instituting socialism and ruining the American dream for Hoosier families. The people of Indiana are feeling the crush of inflation on their gas and their groceries, insecurity from increased crime and the erosion of their freedoms taken away by the government under the excuse of the pandemic. I’m running for re-election to reverse the direction of our country and protect our conservative values and way of life. I helped President Trump pass his America First agenda and have watched the disastrous effects of Joe Biden’s socialist policies. It’s time we put Indiana and our country back on the track President Trump set us on four years ago. I answered the call to serve my country years ago, and I don’t intend to stop fighting for America until we finish the job.”
Since coming to Congress, Banks, a Naval reserve officer and veteran himself, has served on the Armed Services and Veterans Affairs Committees. On the Armed Services Committee, he uses his experience in the Navy to guide him in his task of supporting the men and women who put on the uniform and protect America every day, the release states. On the Veterans Affairs Committee, he draws on his experience as a veteran of war in Afghanistan to support those who previously served America in uniform. He also serves on the Education and Labor Committee.
Banks has introduced legislation to hold China accountable for their role in spreading COVID-19 around the globe and led the effort to stop the military from including woke instruction in training young men and women for service. He also led the effort to introduce a Parents Bill of Rights which, if enacted, would make sure parents are in charge of their child’s education. Together with President Trump, he was instrumental in strengthening the economy, cutting taxes and regulations, rebuilding the military and caring for the nation’s heroes, according to the release.
Banks is a husband to Amanda, and a father of three daughters.
